Artist's Comments

this was rather a stylistic exercise than a piece of art. i used parts of this for a piece still in work.
done in mai 05 and as nothing has happend to it since then i felt like publicly showing this sketch.
also, this work most obviously stands for a change in my digital working. whereas a year ago some of my digital drawings were done with the same size brush wildly scratching over the screen and were finished after an hour or two, my more recent works take more and more time, weeks even. this one here was worked on for about 3 days, mostly instead of my regular sketchbook-work.

I see a skull...in fact that was the first thing I saw. It really stood out to me.
Very cool WIP, I can sense that it's aching to be finished. :-]

Wow... the first thing I noticed was how different it was from your old stuff. I agree with Ethelind. it definitely has some similarities to his work, and probably would have reminded me of it if I had known of him. I love how many layers there are to your work, and it's always stunning.

Hope is the quintessential human delusion; at once the source of our greatest strength and weakness.

this is beautiful. the style is really impressive. it manages to save the rawness and emotion of a regular sketchbook piece, while using the digital medium to merely highlight those aspects, rather than make up for a lack of them. beautiful really. i'd love to see more work like this.
